Class Description

Spanish 1 is an introductory course designated for students with little to no prior experience in Spanish. Through a communicative and interactive approach, students will develop basic language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while also gaining insight into Spanish-speaking cultures around the world.

Course Objectives:

  1. Develop foundational vocabulary and grammar skills necessary for basic communication in Spanish.

  2. Practice speaking and listening comprehension through structured activities, dialogues, and audiovisual materials.

  3. Enhance reading comprehension skills by engaging with authentic texts such as short stories, articles.

  4. Develop writing skills through guided exercises, journal entries, and short compositions.

  5. Explore cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries, including traditions, customs, and social norms.

  • Describing oneself and others

The weekly class will consist of lesson/concept presentation, review, homework review, quizzes, take-home tests, and class participation. We will play games to reinforce vocabulary and other information learned in class.
