Class Description

This class will allow the students to build upon their ASL 1 and 2 skills, focusing on advanced grammatical structures, vocabulary, and Deaf culture, aiming for greater fluency and precision in singing as well as a deeper understanding of the history, values, and traditions of the Deaf community. The students will continue to focus on improving their ability to understand signed language at normal rates. The students will be given practical communication skills signing in various contexts, including real-life scenarios, to enhance their ability to communicate effectively with Deaf people; thus, they will be encouraged to attend community events and interact with Deaf people to gain real-world experience.

There will be quizzes, sign production and comprehension exams, journal activities and presentations in ASL throughout the year.  This course will fulfill one year of foreign language credit for high school.
