Class Description

Students will learn about music from a variety of styles and cultures. Students will learn to listen critically to music that is outside of their own cultural experience to gain a greater understanding of world cultures. Students will learn the basics of reading and writing music notation, how to identify a variety of instruments by their timbre, and how music relates to history and culture. Homework will consist of music listening and creative assignments, and students will present projects each semester that they have researched themselves
