CLASS PREREQUISITES - Studied an instrument or voice with a teacher for at least one year, and can read basic music notation
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Music Theory will focus on learning the foundations of written music notation, ear training, chord structure, and part writing. By the end of this course, students will be able to read and understand music in both treble and bass clefs, read and write rhythms in a variety of time signatures, sight sing melodies using solfege, analyze basic four part harmonies, and compose a piece of music for either instruments or voices as a final project.
TOTAL FEE: $120 ($100 plus $20 materials fee)
TEXT/REQUIRED MATERIALS: Texts and materials will be supplied by the mentor, but students need access to a computer and internet at home, with permission to use free programs such as Canva and Google Drive to complete assignments and projects.
