7-12 How Things Work (Knowledge to Help Navigate life.)

Understanding “How Things Work” is so important for a successful life. Perhaps you’ve heard people say, “I wish I knew then what I know now.”? That’s what this class is all about. They express a desire to have had the knowledge or wisdom they currently possess at an earlier age. I’m not going to write a book, but I do want to transfer as much of the knowledge and experience I have gained over 60+ years to students so that they might benefit from it.

This class will consist of lectures, discussion, demonstrations, and regular “hands-on” opportunities. The main topics include, but are not limited to:

· Personal Finance (including some financial peace topics)

· Business

· Technology -AC/DC Electricity, Digital Devices, Internet, MS Office

· Home and Auto -HVAC, Plumbing, Utilities, Appliances, maintain

· Insurance -Home, Auto, Medical

· Accounting

· Leisure/Travel

· Medical

· Employment

· Taxes

· Real Estate

· Government

This class operates on the ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL schedule.
