EMMA

This class seeks to equip middle schoolers with skills and confidence needed to become effective public speakers. Students will learn how to craft well-organized speeches and how to present them in front of an audience. Weekly homework and interactive class activities will reinforce different aspects of public speaking (such as poise, eye contact, gestures, and the like). Students will present several speeches and gain valuable experience that will assist them in overcoming common public speaking apprehensions and in becoming more conscientious listeners. And they will realize that public speaking can actually be fun ... or at least not as scary as they may have thought!
