Text / Materials Required
Students will learn basic vocabulary, phrases, and conversation in American Sign Language (ASL). They will also learn about the history of sign language in our country, the unique culture of the deaf, and how they, even as students, can reach out to people with disabilities. No textbook is needed as we will use teacher-created handouts, supplemented by websites. Internet access and practice during the week is required. A variety of learning activities, games, and songs will be used to teach this beautiful language. This is a year-long class. The grade levels for this class will be strictly adhered to.
