required book list by semester—no abridged versions—any edition: Fall 2020: The Last of the Mohicans by James Cooper, Women in the Nineteenth Century by Margaret Fuller, and The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain. Spring 2021: Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather, Murder in the Cathedral by TS Eliot, The Old Man and the Sea by Earnest Hemingway, and Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansbury.
Class Description
This class will be a college prep course focusing on reading and analyzing books, poems, plays, and short stories taken from recommended reading lists for college-bound students. This will be a book-based, writing-intensive course which will focus on helping students hone their critical thinking skills and writing abilities. There will be weekly reading quizzes and reading assignments as well as several papers.
